Despite all of the time-saving gadgets, apps and appliances we have at our disposal, today’s moms are busier than ever. In fact, we are often so busy working, taking care of our families, driving our kids around and keeping up with the housework that we have little time for anything else, including ourselves.

While caring for others is a huge part of our nature, it simply isn’t possible to be everything for everyone without making at least a little time for ourselves as well. Think you’re too busy? Here are five ways to find time for yourself no matter how busy you are.

1. Wake Up Earlier

Perhaps the easiest way to find quiet time for yourself is to wake up a little earlier. Whether you wake up hours before your family does or you only manage to wake up 15 minutes earlier, waking up early is a great way to enjoy some peace and quiet before your busy day begins.

2. Use Breaks Wisely

If you really stop to think about it, you probably have more time to yourself than you realize. This time may be in the shower, while driving to work, on your lunch break, while your kids are napping, while they are playing quietly in the other room or at night after everyone has gone to bed. Don’t waste this valuable time cleaning the house or playing on Facebook. Use it for yourself.

3. Choose Your Commitments Carefully

If you truly cannot find any extra time in the day for yourself, you may be over-committed. Take inventory of your commitments. Do you have too many? Is there anything you can let go of or delegate? Take lesser important items off your schedule and you’ll have room for more important ones.

4. Streamline Your Days

If there truly is nothing you can cut out of your schedule, then you’ll need to find a way to do each of your tasks more efficiently so you have room to spare. Calendars, schedules, to-do lists, automatic bill payments and meal planning apps can all help you get your daily tasks done faster.

5. Swap Babysitting

Sometimes we all need a night away. Get the night off by swapping babysitting with a friend or family member. You could alternate weeks or ask each other on an as-needed basis. This is a great way to get time away for free.
